We are delighted to announce the 2025 edition of the Green Law Africa Initiative Climate Justice Moot Court Competition, set to take place on the 9th and 10th of October 2025 at the prestigious Mzumbe University, Main Campus in Morogoro, Tanzania.

This continental competition brings together Africa’s brightest law students to engage in critical debates on environmental law, climate justice, and sustainable development. The 2025 theme, “Transboundary Environmental Harm and State Responsibility: Strengthening Legal Accountability for a Sustainable Africa,” challenges participants to grapple with real-world legal issues at the intersection of environmental protection and human rights.

Since its inception, the Green Law Africa Initiative Moot has made a significant impact—raising a generation of environmentally conscious lawyers, inspiring innovative legal thinking, and fostering cross-border collaboration among African law schools. It has become a beacon for climate justice advocacy, shaping future leaders who will defend the rights of both people and the planet.

We invite all law schools across Africa to participate in this year’s historic edition. This is more than just a competition—it is a call to action for the next generation of legal minds to champion environmental justice and forge a greener, more sustainable Africa.
