The Green Law Africa Initiative is a Pan-African platform for climate justice advocacy, legal research, and policy influence. It brings together law schools, legal professionals, and environmental activists to drive legal solutions for Africa’s environmental challenges. Through training programs, partnerships, and advocacy, this initiative fosters a strong network of climate-focused legal practitioners.
Founder, Green Law Africa Initiative
Brian Awuonda is the visionary founder of Green Law Africa Initiative, a continental platform dedicated to advancing climate and environmental justice through legal advocacy, education, and strategic litigation. Under his leadership, the Initiative has become a rallying point for African legal minds, policy makers, and grassroots communities committed to safeguarding the continent’s ecological future.
With a strong foundation in environmental law and a history of high-impact litigation, Brian has spearheaded transformative programs including the annual Climate Justice Moot Court Competitions, where law students from across Africa engage in critical debates on environmental governance and sustainability.
His leadership style is grounded in strategic collaboration and a deep commitment to justice for both people and the planet. Through Green Law Africa Initiative, Brian continues to inspire a new generation of legal professionals to use the law as a tool for climate resilience and systemic change across Africa.
